Academy Especially for Directors

The July ACUMEN BUSINESS ACADEMY debated the question, could you be personally liable for your actions as a director?

After busy networking over drinks, the delegates settled to hear Alvin Ittoo, our Dispute Resolution expert, discussing the key duties that directors are responsible for. Alvin then provided examples of conduct that breach those duties and that could make directors personally liable. Also, the talk identified if and when action should be taken against a director and the benefits or pitfalls in doing so.

This was really useful for the directors attending as there were important factors pointed out that would not necessarily be thought of until it happens. At that point it can substantially compromise the aggrieved director’s legal position or it may be too late to take a beneficial action. Some of the attending directors shared experiences, asked interesting and thought provoking questions and an interesting debate developed about possible outcomes of example situations. It opened up a forum of discussions, sharing best practice and gaining knowledge and expertise from our Dispute Resolution expert.

With lots to talk about, many delegates continued their discussions and had plenty of opportunity to network with each other. As the session concluded new contacts had been made, questions were answered and all went away with some insightful information.

The next session will be held in October and the topics vary each time so watch this space…If you are an expert in your field with a passion for business then you can read more here https://www.acumenbusinesslaw.co.uk/clubs-and-events/acumen-business-academy.
