Penina speaks at Wired Sussex – Protecting your intellectual property

Wired Sussex hold Breakfast sessions that share best practice on various subjects. For the 23rd June 2016 it was the subject of protecting your intellectual property and discussing issues such as ‘do you think you have ideas worth protecting and who owns the intellectual property (IP)?’

Intellectual property is often overlooked as a key asset in a business purely due to lack of awareness! Many businesses are not aware of ways in which it can maximise its potential and exploit its value. On the other hand, those who are aware, enjoy fantastic income from these assets.

Penina spoke about the Law of Copyright, TM & Intellectual Property Rights and how to protect it. She said, “Copyright is owned automatically in law – you own what you’ve created” and went on to explain “your intellectual property is your greatest asset” and “trademarks are a no-brainer , they’re a cost effective and simple way to protect your brand.”

Clive Bonny from Strategic Management Partners then continued talking about the opportunities & pitfalls of Patents & IP and how IP awareness training is very important. “It’s not enough to just have a policy you have to understand & follow it!”

In a full meeting room all who attended were left with plenty of food for thought and now see the importance of protecting your intellectual property and thanks to Penina now know how!
